Projects
In this section we present the projects that we, as the Shanenawa Family Association, support and that are implemented locally by the Instituto Pakakuru.
All initiatives pursue a common goal: the protection of the rainforest, the strengthening of the community and the preservation of cultural knowledge in the Shanenawa area in Acre, Brazil.
A key focus is the reforestation of degraded areas. By planting native tree species, we make a concrete contribution to climate protection, the promotion of biodiversity, and the long-term preservation of natural resources.
Closely linked to this is the establishment of a tree nursery (Viveiro de Mudas), where seedlings are cultivated and distributed both within the community and to neighboring communities and riverside residents (Ribeirinhos). This project combines ecological responsibility with regional cooperation.
Another important component is the construction of a house for the production of traditional natural and medicinal remedies. Here, inherited knowledge is preserved, practiced, and passed on to future generations – in harmony with nature and cultural identity.
Furthermore, we specifically support the empowerment and self-determination of women in the community. Many families secure part of their income through the production and sale of traditional handicrafts. Our projects promote this work, create better conditions, and contribute to strengthening women's economic independence.
These projects represent a holistic vision: ecological regeneration, cultural preservation and social development go hand in hand.
Together with our members and supporters, we contribute to ensuring that these initiatives can grow sustainably and have a long-term impact.
